Otoplasty (Auriculoplasty)
This usually concerns children from 4 to 14 years old, but also adults. The purpose of the otoplasty is to reduce the size of the visibly large ears or to set prominent ears back closer to the head. The incisions are usually in the back of the ear. The cartilage is then sculped; the excess is removed and the desired shape and position of the ear is recovered.
The anaesthesia for children is general and for adults - local.
Recovery period: going back to work or school: from 5 to 7 days; doing exercises and going back to tense activities: from 1 to 2 months.
Duration of the result: permanent.
