The most common candidates for this type of surgery are women, pleased with the size of their breasts but not with how tight they are or with the fact that their nipples point downwards. Usually the reason for this deformation is in the loss of resilience of the skin, caused by extreme diets, pregnancy, nursing, or by the natural aging process.
The operation aims to lift and to recover the shape of the breasts by removing the excess skin tissue and repositioning of the nipples and thus returning the youth outlook of the breasts. Implants may be used in some cases in order to change the size of the breasts. The help of computers in the choice of the size and shape of the breasts is unquestionable. This intervention is possible even before giving birth and it will not influence the nursing afterwards. It is carried out under general anaesthesia in a hospital. The patient may have to spend the night in the hospital.
After a recovery period of one or two weeks the patient may go back to work.
The tension after the operation usually disappears in about a month and the fading of the scars will be complete in a period that stretches from a couple of months to a year.
