Augmentation mammaplasty
The usual candidates for this type of surgery are women with normal size breasts who would like an augmentation, who have disproportionate breasts or one of their breasts is slightly smaller than the other or in the cases when the original form and volume have been lost as a consequence of pregnancy, giving birth, old age, or specific illnesses. Silicone gel or special implants are used for the purposes of Augmentation mammaplasty. There are several ways to make the surgical incisions, one or two inches under the breasts along the breast flap, arched, around the areola, or in the armpit. Most of the times the decision has to be made by the specialist after a consultation with the patient. Whether the implant will be placed over or under the breast muscle will depend highly on the type of the chosen implantation. After the incision is performed the implant is placed in the so-made opening behind the breasts or under the breast muscle. If the breasts are hanging, a lift during the augmentation procedure is recommended. Usually general anaesthesia is used and the operation is carried out in a specialized surgery department. The patient will suffer a temporary feeling of pain, hyperaesthesia, flow, change in the sensation of the nipple and a feeling of bruises during a period of two or three weeks. The patient may go back to work in a couple of days unless he/she is physically tense. The use of a brassiere is required for about a month and physical exercises are possible two or three weeks after the operation.
The help of a computer in making the right choice about the size and shape of the breasts is unquestionable.
